Thanks Given for Donation Quilt

The 3rd Annual “Friendship Display of Quilts” show would like to give thanks to the volunteers who made the donation quilt project possible. Special thanks go to JoAnn Boehm, Tina Bowles, Mary Boyd, Jackie Britt, Karin Earl, Caroline Franco, Sue Hahn, Barbara Harrison, Debra Hey, Vicki Higgins, Donna Horton, Jennifer Howard, Kimberly Jackson, Kacey Lamb, Debbie Leeper, Missy Morris, Kay Perkins, Kathleen Rose, Kathy Skaggs, and Joy Tapley for an absolutely beautiful creation. Chances for this quilt can be purchased at the “Friendship Display of Quilts” show on Oct.3rd at the Burkburnett Community Center, visiting www.burkquilts.org or by calling (940) 569-0804 for more info. Tickets are $1 each or 10 for $5. Proceeds of the ticket sales to benefit the “Meals on Wheels” program. The drawing will be held at 4:00pm during the quilt show. Admission is just $1 or 2 cans of food to support the local food bank.

Burkburnett, TX. Visit the 9th Annual Burkburnett Friendship Festival. The festival is held each year in Friendship Park on the first Saturday in October to celebrate our friends and our community.
Each year the festival grows greater in popularity and this year will be no exception. Over 80 vendors selling everything from German sausage to frozen cheesecake on a stick; crafts to jewelry, face painting to toys; leather goods to woodworking and a variety of food to vast to list. Other major attraction to the event will include the children's area which includes all day play on the inflatables for just $5.00 per child and the quilt display located in the Community Center. Entertainment includes performances by the Side Street Circus and day time entertainment in the amphitheater provided by local talents.
With over 6000 people in attendance in 2008, you will not want to miss out on this year's celebration of the Burkburnett Friendship Festival. The display is open between 9:00am and 5:00pm. Over 100 quilts will be on display at this non-judged show for all to enjoy. This year’s special guest is internationally recognized musician and contemporary quilt artist, Ricky Tims. He will be joining us at 11:00am for a special appearance and book signing. Admission is just $1 or 2 cans of food to support the local food bank. We are currently asking all regional quilters and non-quilters to register their handmade quilts to be displayed in this years quilt exhibit. Registration is free. Burkburnett, TX. The Quilters of Burkburnett will be holding the Second Annual “Friendship Display of Quilts” on Saturday, October 4, 2008 in the Burkburnett Community Center to benefit Burkburnett’s local groups and organizations. This will be a non-judged show for all to enjoy. The City of Burkburnett will also host its 8th Annual Friendship Festival on the same Saturday at Friendship Park. This event began in 2001 and has been growing every year, with last year’s attendance topping 5000 people. The Quilt Show offers the attendees another exciting venue to visit. This year’s special guest speaker is award winning and published quilt artist Richard Larson. Along with the local talent, many historical quilts will be displayed. Besides the quilt show, there will be venders, quilt sales, door prizes, and a quilt raffle. But the main focus of the event is to raise money for Burkburnett’s Local Charities. “We need to stand together and support our local charitable organizations. The outstanding services that are provided produce a direct benefit to our local community,” stated Kimberly Jackson, owner of the Stitching Depot Quilt Shop in historic downtown Burkburnett, Texas. Burkburnett, TX. The Quilters of Burkburnett will be holding the First Annual “Friendship Display of Quilts” on Saturday, October 6, 2007 in the Burkburnett Community Center to benefit the Burkburnett Boys and Girls Clubs. This will be a non-judged show for all to enjoy. The hours will be 10:00am to 6:00pm and the admission will be $1 per person (12 and older). Besides the quilt show, there will be venders, quilt sales, quilt raffle, and door prizes. Also, the 7th Annual Friendship Festival will be held in the surrounding recreational parks.
The event is designed to allow quilters and quilt owners to display some of their prized possessions. “Due to the centennial of Burkburnett, we are looking for some quilts that have a historical distinction to them”, stated Kimberly Jackson, owner of the Stitching Depot Quilt Shop. “However, the event is in no way limited to historical quilts, all quilts are welcome.” The organizers of the event are asking the community to look in their closets and under their beds and bring out their hidden treasures for everyone to enjoy.

2007 Quilt Show

“Friendship Display of Quilts” was held Saturday, October 6, 2007 in conjunction with the 7th Annual Friendship Festival. The community oriented project raised $1550.00 to benefit the Burkburnett Boys and Girls Club. “It was a tough event to coordinate for a first time project, but it was easy to decide on what charity to support”, said Kimberly Jackson, owner of The Stitching Depot Quilt Shop. “The Boys and Girls Club provide a much needed community service and we want to support them.” The display had 114 quilts, ranging from historical to modern. The winner of the quilt raffle was Jackie Britt. The Stitching Depot thanks all of the community volunteers for an outstanding show.
